Little Spotlights- Lots: The Diversity Of Life- Nicola Davies & Emily Sutton

After the response to the Top Ten Tuesday- Gems with under 1,000 ratings post was immensely positive, it was suggested this is a great thing and I agree so I have decided to make spotlighting a regular fixture

In honour of 1st March being St David’s Day I wanted to select a Welsh author or author with strong ties to Wales whose work we enjoy to Spotlight.

Lots: The Diversity Of Life- Nicola Davies Illustrated by Emily Sutton

Age group: Primary Non-Fiction
Key Words: Nature, Habitat, Diversity

Littlefae says:

This book is lovely! My favourites are the ones underwater. I like the pictures with the starfish best, but I don’t like that warthog {in the from the treetops page}, I think he’s tricky!!

This book by Nicola Davies plays to her absolute strength as a creator of non-fiction and is an ideal addition to any educational setting to support literacy, numeracy and science covering topics such as animal, insect and plant life, habitats, life cycles and food chains and climate change from the gentle perspective of a child exploring the world to measure the quantity of life.

Certainly children whether reading or not can enjoy exploring the exquisite illustrations as they are crammed with lots of interesting detail like Where’s Wally of natural life with diversity of plants and creatures.

Books like this fascinate Littlefae, even when we first received this 2 years ago and she couldn’t read. Tinyfae loves learning about nature and the soft illustrations by Emily Sutton are calming and fascinating in mesmerising detail.

Nicola Davies books and Emily Sutton’s illustrations are beautiful but this is an extra special production.

Lots: The Diversity Of Life- Nicola Davies Illustrated by Emily Sutton is published by Walker Books.

I received this book for free from Walker Books (thank you) with no obligation or payment- this has not affected my opinion.
