WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking on a World Of Words that simply asks three questions.
What are you currently reading?
Littlefae
Fabio The World’s Greatest Flamingo Detective: Mystery on the Ostrich Express by Laura James and Emily Fox (Bloomsbury)
We are doing this as a project analysing the scene and suspects making predictions etc which I may show examples of when I review if anyone is interested?
Max The Detective Cat: The Disappearing Diva by Sarah Todd Taylor Illustrations by Nicola Kinnear (Nosy Crow)
I read this book last week but I am now reading Max The Detective Cat with Littlefae as our ‘calm down’ book as she has expressed an interest in Mystery books.
After last week TTT regarding audiobooks we have given our library eaudiobook service a go for journeys in the car and so far it’s been a success our current listen is:
The Wollstonecraft Detective Agency: The Case Of the Girl in Grey by Jordan Stratford narrated by Nicola Barber (Highbridge)
What did you recently finish reading?

Brightstorm– Vashti Hardy
I’ve wanted to read this for AGES and finally Annaliese Avery’s April #KidBookBingo on Twitter fuelled me to squeeze this in as my last read of March and I’m very thankful she did as I loved this STEM and steam powered adventure of explorer twins determined to discover what really happened to their father when he disappeared during an expedition race.
Littlefae and Tinyfae
Princess Scallywag and the No Good Pirates – Mark Sperring and Claire Powell (HarperCollins)
This is a really funny play on gender norms and the Princess & Queen tropes with Princess Scallywag and her mum outwitting the pirate crew come to seize the Royal Yacht and make them prisoners. I love it as it gives me opportunity to express my voices as Princess Scallywag is certainly a Queenie from Blackadder II.
In our car journeys we have enjoyed altogether thanks to our local library eaudiobook service:
Amelia Fang and the Unicorn Lords- Laura Ellen Anderson Read by Zoe Thorne (Bolinda Digital)
We’ve read all the published Amelia Fangs so far but it was interested to hear a very loved story read aloud by someone else. Littlefae says that my renditions of the characters are her favourites still! Especially Florence!
Maisie Hitchins: The Case of the Stolen Sixpence – Holly Webb Read by Victoria Fox (Oakhill Publishing Limited)
This Victorian-era mystery series about a young girl who dreams of becoming a detective is one that Littlefae expressed an interest in the physical book but this offered a chance to try out the narrative before getting the books.
What do you think you’ll read next?
I have a couple of books to read so it will either be
Alex Rider:Secret Weapon by Anthony Horowitz (Walker Books)
Or
The Cosmic Atlas Of Alfie Fleet- Martin Howard & Chris Mould ( OUP)
Both male protagonist adventure book, one serious spy and the other creative and set in space!
Glad you found a way to try out some audiobooks. Hope you’re enjoying them (pleased to hear your voices won out though!) Cosmic Atlas looks interesting, not one I’ve heard of.

I’ve had a flick through, double spaced slightly larger font and some illustrations scattered but looks thick like a typical MG- a good one for reluctant readers or those lacking stamina but don’t want to be seen with ‘thin’ books that may be associated with ‘younger’ readers. Absolutely bonkers and looks a bit Hitchhikers for MG!

Yeah, that was my thinking – it’d be a good one to know of for recommends in work when I’m back.

Oh and audiobooks are working well in the car as Tinyfae falls asleep and Littlefae listens intently.

Oh my word, The Hand, The Eye, and the Heart sounds fantastic! I’m definitely going to have to read that. Especially loving the non-binary MC. Haven’t read a book like that yet this year, and it’s about time I do!
Here’s my WWW Wednesday post.

So pleased you loved Brightstorm- I have a LOT of love for that book and I’m DYING to get hold of Wildspark.
The last thing I finished was Paper Avalanche this afternoon, which I loved, and I’m going to start Storm Hound next I think 😊. Then I’m thinking maybe the Last Spell Breather…

Ah stormhound is lovely! I’m hoping for the post on the Last Spell Breather but as the week goes on I’m thinking I will have to wait for publication. I finished the Hand The Eye and The Heart and OMG it’s gone straight into my all time favourites and I’m now compelled to read everything else she has written!!
