WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking on a World Of Words that simply asks three questions.
What are you currently reading?
When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit- Judith Kerr
Guess who thought #PinkRabbitReadalong was next week 🙄.
When I say I’m going to do something, I do something. Even if it means putting aside other books and hopping between both the PinkRabbit and the latter half of ToppstaBookClub!
This book is super important, perhaps quietly up there with books like The Handmaids Tale and 1984 because of the abject fear that these things are happening in our present world.
What did you recently finish reading?

The Bad Luck Lighthouse – Nicki Thornton
I am so grateful for this copy thanks to Erin at My Shelves are Full (who has just moved over to WordPress and also reviews Picture and MG books)
I adored The Last Chance Hotel and I love how Seth is taken out of his comfort zone in this novel- there’s still the feeling of confusion throughout and not being told the whole truth, and some gorgeous development points to chew on for the next novel. However this time Seth is a little more in control and respected throughout which is lovely to see even if he still doubts his abilities.
Review in the works
I’ve had a bit of a mammoth day with the Early Chapter books that we’ve been sent or purchased yesterday after finishing up Bad Luck Lighthouse.
Admittedly I’ve had a bit of a reading slump not through ennui or anything it’s thanks to my grandmother visiting. Whilst she likes reading, like with many things outside her worldview I don’t think she really understands the blogging bit so I’m trying to catch up as much as possible since she went home.
I’m going to do round up and/or mini review posts of all the following in the next few days:
Help I Smell a Monster Justin Davies & Kim Geyer (Orchard)
Scottish Recruitment Agency for Monsters. Enough said it’s such a cute little book with excellent primer on European and British especially Scottish mythology and folklore.
Review to come
David Robert’s Dirty Bertie by Alan MacDonald (Stripes)
A 3 stories in 1 combo for new fans Littlefae is enjoying this and I read ahead last night whilst Tinyfae refused to sleep. This is such a great book, super funny and self aware making a hero of and empathy for that perpetually grubby kid we all have come across.
We have already procured more. Review to come
My Babysitter is a Robot! by Dave Cousins and Catalina Echeverri (Stripes)
What it says on the tin really and absolutely delightful. Review to come
The Loneliest Kitten – Holly Webb & Sophy Williams (Stripes)
In classic Holly Web Animal stories style this is a lovely book.
Review to come
The Llama Bridesmaid – Bella Swift illustrated by Nina Jones & the Artful Dodgers
This is the follow up to The Pug who wanted to be a unicorn and I’m actually quite impressed. The story is from the perspective of Lulu the Llama and has the warmth of Holly Webb stories. Review to come

Illustration by James Brown design by Sophie Burdess
The Trapdoor Mysteries: The Lost Treasure Abie Longstaff illustrated by James Brown (Orion)
The final story in the Trapdoor Mysteries, we have been there since the beginning, I’m not ashamed to say I got a bit emotional- I can’t wait to finish this off with Littlefae and get her opinion for the full review.
Review pending
What do you think you’ll read next?

The Longest Night Of Charlie Noon – Christopher Edge (Nosy Crow) *
Under a Dancing Star – Laura Wood (Scholastic)
I wrote about this yesterday and then found it in my local Waterstones over a week early!!
I really enjoyed Bad Luck Lighthouse (which was my last read!). I’m looking forward to your thoughts on all three that you’re planning to get to next 💜
My current read is Peril en Pointe, and I’m really unsure about what I’m going to read next- I really can’t decide at all!

Oh Bad Luck Lighthouse was great- I did guess BUT I wasn’t disappointed it was well signposted.
I’m definitely intrigued by Peril en Pointe!! I’m hoping it’s got enough spy mystery for me!

I finished it this afternoon and I really enjoyed It! I’d definitely say there’s lots of mystery, intrigue and action personally- though there is definitely ballet in there too. I’m so excited for the next one already! X

I’ll be attempting to flit between Pink Rabbit and Toppsta later too, in amongst tea and hoping I’m not up and down stairs to a restless Peapod…
Interested yo know what you think of Dragon with a Chocolate Heart, I’ve not read that one either.

It’s been sitting there a while- I didn’t get to it in time for Annaliese’s Bingo. Littlefae was very excited about the idea of dragons and food magic!
I’m hoping Tinyfae sleeps tonight, they’ve upped her medication and so she’s a little hyper until she settles on the dose which means nightmares, not sleeping the works 😩

Oh no, poor Tinyfae! And poor you! Really, really hope it settles quickly and you both get some rest. Fingers crossed for you tonight!x

I’m currently functioning on 3hours sleep which is doable but not fun!! It was so awful she had a nightmare where snakes were eating her last night.

Yeah, far from ideal, sleeplessness is so tough isn’t it? Peapod is still a regular waker and still prefers to sleep on me sat up so I can only sympathise and offer a virtual ☕🍪
The nightmares just sound horrible though, poor Tinyfae, and must be awful for you not bring able to do anything to stop them. Really feel for you.x

Hopefully it will settle- usually takes about a month to adjust to the dose IF it is sufficient change. Hopefully we will be ok

Oh and Peapod! Bless that’s the age that Tinyfaes sleeping issues started and I sat up and watched all the Sex and the City’s in 2 nights!!
