WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking on a World Of Words that simply asks three questions.
What are you currently reading?
The Girl Who Stole An Elephant – Nizrana Farook
This isn’t out until Feb 2020 So I am incredibly lucky to have a proof, it’s been described as Robin Hood meets Arabian Nights but with a strong female lead and is set in Sri Lanka where a young girl dares to steal the Queens jewels during the rumblings of revolution.
As you can imagine I’m in heaven!!
What did you recently finish reading?
Top Marks for Murder- Robin Stevens
I’m dreadfully behind in typing up my reviews of my MMU Marathon but I must say this was an emotional read- I was in bits at a few points especially regarding the fortunes one of my most beloved characters in this series.
As writing up my casebook whilst reading takes a lot of time and effort I read a few shorter and early chapter books this week for a little lightness and joy!

The Turnkey of Highgate Cemetery by Alison Rushby
This is a gorgeously different historical supernatural tale of a young girl who upon death becomes the spiritual caretaker of the ghosts interred within Highgate Cemetery in North London.
This tale has a dash of Indiana Jones about it as Flossie discovers a Nazi ghost has been spying around London with a terrible secret which drags the world of the dead into the War of the living.

Unicorn Academy: Violet and Twinkle by Julie Sykes & Lucy Truman
This is the 11th book in the Unicorn Academy series and I really really liked this wintery themed adventure where Violet has to learn to stand up for herself because friendship is give AND take whilst uncovering more secrets about the hooded figure!

Lottie Luna and the Bloom Garden-Vivian French and Nathan Reed
Oh I love this super cute series about a werewolf girl whose starting a new school and trying to make friends whilst discovering who keeps trashing the garden project. Lottie is a delightful role model for young children about kindness and resilience. I’m looking forward to more of these!

Max the Detective Cat: The Phantom Portrait- Sarah Todd Taylor & Nicola Kinnear
We love Max’s first adventure and I have been so excited to finally get my hands on a copy of his second adventure and his fortuitous because it is Halloween themed!! I was so happy to read this spooky little tale and Littlefae loved it too!!

Max the Detective Cat: The Catnap Caper- Sarah Todd Taylor & Nicola Kinnear

Max, Oscar are travelling to Paris with Agnes, Sophie, Mrs Garland and Monsieur Lavroche to visit Madame Emerald who is hosting a singing competition to find the voice of Paris. However someone is catnapping rich peoples kitties and Max and Oscar are determined to save the day.
Truly this is a joy!

What do you think you’ll read next?
I would like to read The Great Brain Robbery by PG Bell and The Somerset Tsunami by Emma Carroll at least before Halloween!!
I would love to squeeze The Call by Peadar O’Guilin in too!!
The Girl Who Stole an Elephant looks amazing and may well be my next read as I also have a proof. I’m THRILLED you liked Top Marks ofc, and I have the Turnkey of Highgate Cemetery on my TBR. Somerset Tsuanami is absolutely incredible- possibly a new fave Emma for me and you KNOW I don’t say that lightly. Like top top top tier Queen Emma. Great Brain Robbery is still on my TBR. The last thing I finished was the new Anna James (🙈🙈), I’m now just starting Shadows of Winterspell and if I can squeeze them in, which isn’t mega likely but I’ll try, I’d quite like to get to Tunnel of Bones and something off my library shelf before the end of the month. Although 4 books before the end of the month seems an extremely lofty goal that I am not going to achieve unless I properly get my skates on!!

I keep seeing The Girl who Stole an Elephant being mentioned – it sounds wonderful. I’m reading The Great Brain Robbery and am loving it – the world feels really familiar even though it’s been ages since I read the first one. I think I’m going to love it! I was lucky enough to win The Ghouls of Howlfair on Toppsta and am really looking forward to reading it after your review.

Oooh The Girl Who Stole an Elephant sounds really good! Hope it lives up to those comps, man. The Turnkey of Highgate Cemetery sounds really good, too, and that cover is just gorgeous. 😀

With the Turnkey of Highgate Cemetery this is one where I think I prefer the original Aussie ( same in US) cover as it has a Big Eyes dolly feel about it but I then like this one too as you can project what you think Flossie looks like on it.
