WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking on a World Of Words that simply asks three questions.
What are you currently reading?
The Toll by Neal Shusterman
Now I’m being honest now, I loved Scythe & Thunderhead but I’m struggling a little with The Toll despite this being highly anticipated for me.
The fact that my nan has been and stayed with us for a week is a huge factor, I love my nan but there’s not really opportunity for cosy reading time when she’s visiting.
The other fact is that Neal is deliberately being misleading with multiple storylines ON DIFFERENT TIMELINES!! I’m 360 pages in and other than a huge event that happened in the last ten pages still not a huge lot has really warranted 360 pages to reach this point.
It’s a bit like a Sofia Coppola film in lots of moody brooding from the different characters and some talking bits and a few midnight runs in between so far. I’m hoping part 4 will bring the brooding together into a more cohesive string of narratives.
Again it may be just me, I’m near on DNFing just to read some Believathon and come back to it.
What did you recently finish reading?
I’ve only read one other book since Wednesday, which is if you read my blog regularly quite surprising and I fear I’m hitting a slump. It’s also a tough emotional time for me as this month dredges up a lot of difficult memories.
Hacker by Malorie Blackman
This was my childhood favourite prompt and I loved revisiting the story of Vicky struggling with false accusations, she of hacking the school computer system and her father of stealing a million pounds from the bank where he works in the computer department and she’s determined to save her father.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Oh gosh I think I need something funny so I’m going to go for Simply the Quest by Maz Evans to try and desperately catch up with everyone and their Believathons-
I’ve missed all the theme reading so far thanks to visitors and I’m going to miss Disney day too as my husband’s parents can’t see him next week so we have to celebrate his birthday today with them.
Simply the Quest is brilliant, really hope you enjoy it! The last thing I finished was Look Both Ways, I’m now reading Skycircus with Rachael and then I’m probably going to read the new Alex Bell because I NEED to know what happens!!

I need to read Alex Bell as I keep looking at them then getting distracted by all the shinies!

Rather than DNFing your current read if it’s not working for you, especially with all the other things you say you have going on, how about just putting it to one side for now and coming back to it. Sometimes I find it’s a case of right book but wrong time.

I absolutely loved Scythe, and I bought Thunderhead when it came out, but embarrassed to say I haven’t read it yet. Now, I have The Toll, so I’m really behind. Hope it picks up for you. https://teripolen.com/2019/11/13/www-wednesday-what-am-i-reading-amreading-34/

Simply the Quest is a brilliant book! I know it’s hard to put a book to the side, but maybe you should so you can come back and hopefully enjoy it again later.

100 pages and I’ll see if it’s worth the next 200 more. (630 page behemoth!)

Sorry this a tough month for you, sending all the hugs. A funny read next and some Believathon choices sound like good ideas. I’ve missed all the themed days too which is a shame, I was hoping to do some but combination of disorganisation and life have prevented it!
