WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking on a World Of Words that simply asks three questions.
What are you currently reading?
Frostheart – Jamie Littler
I’ve just started and been looking forward to this one for a while!
What did you recently finish reading?
I FINALLY finished The Toll that takes an upward turn from around the 350-400 page mark. I’m not in love with the ending but I didn’t abhor it either.
After The Toll I’ve been in a quandary, as I have both Believathon books and a few published arrivals to read so I agreed with myself to aim to stagger Believathon books with this committed reading, I’ve already slightly failed thanks to a few sleepless nights with Tinyfae so:
The Legend of Podkin One-Ear by Kieran Larwood
This epic tale in the oral storytelling tradition shows that it’s not about the strongest rabbit . We really enjoyed this bookm
Simply the Quest- Maz Evans
Elliot returns to save the world, and his sanity considering the Greek gods are up to especially in light of the deterioration in his mum and a whispered promise if her returns the stones ya naughty naughty Thanatos.
Nevertell- Katherine Orton
In a few words YES, FROSTY, FOLKSY MAGIC YES!!!!
Review to come on this epic Angry Elsa meets Sophie Anderson’s mythology and runs away with North Child to The Way Past Winter but with Soviet Gulags and magic on trains and so much more Oh my goodness!!
What do you think you’ll read next?
I have got a few committed reads including Onjali Rauf’s The Star Outside my Window and Twelve Minutes to Midnight by Christopher Edge but then I’ve also got a lot of Believathon prompts to fill too!!
October, The Toll, and visitors has collectively knocked me for six… I need to get my stride back.
Nevertell sounds wonderful!

I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of Frostheart, it’s on my TBR! Glad you enjoyed Simply the Quest, and SO glad you liked Nevertell because I’m very, very exciyed about getting to that!! I really need to read Podkin as well🙈. And the Star Outside My Window as well actually! I really hope I end up reading as much in December as I think I will because there are SO many books I want to finish beforethe year ends!

I’m sorry the Toll didn’t end up being what you hoped it would be, though I’m glad the ending at least was semi enjoyable. I was really looking forward to staring the series because of the hype but now I am not so sure anymore. Do you think the first two books can be read separately from the last? I hope you end up enjoying your next reads more 🙂

In a way I want to leave the unknowing at the end of Thunderhead, but then it’s a nice tieing up of loose threads at the end of The Toll, it’s just the first 350 pages were slow burning and leaping across timelines which made it challenging for me to remember where everyone was in my little snatches of time to read. It’s probably much easier to read in one binge!!

Obviously I want to read The Toll so badly! I have a copy but I need to get through some other books first. Must.Have.Some.Control.
Meanwhile, Nevertell sounds amazing. I’m putting it on my December list.

Hope you enjoy Frostheart, and well done for finishing The Toll. I can’t wait to start Nevertell – it sounds amazing. I’ve had a signed copy of the proof for ages as it came with our school writing club box, but I had to be good and not read it as it is a prize for one of the writers. I now have a copy of the published one, so think I’ll read it as my first December read.

Me too, I have a little pile of books next to my Believathon stack but a few ones I’ve had as proofs or review copies will certainly be on my recommendations list too! Feeling all frosty and Wintery!!!

Your reaction to The Toll is pretty much the same as I had. I loved one aspect of the ending and wasn’t particularly fond of the other, so that rounds out to a solid meh feeling, I guess. xD I enjoyed the rest of the book before that, though, so there’s that.
Oooh, Nevertell sounds great! Angry Elsa. xD
Here’s my WWW post.

Oh thank goodness, I struggled until the events around page 350 then it took off much better. Again ecstatically happy with one part of the ending the other bit- 😑
Nevertell is fantastic, highly highly recommended!

From the people I’ve talked to so far, that seems to pretty much be the consensus among people I know. xD

Oh you don’t know how much that means! I was wondering if I was hitting a slump or coming down with SAD considering how much I’d looked forward to this book 💜
