The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bronte Mettlestone – Jaclyn Moriarty (Guppy Books 2019)

Magic is worked by thread. Long ago, the thread was real and you dug it out from a magic mine.

Journey, Magic, Hope
Guppy Books a new independent publisher headed by Bella Pearson brought Jaclyn Moriarty’s wonderful tale of adventure, family and finding oneself to UK audiences in October 2019 and it is such a magical experience.
Indulging in a world of magic, fairies juxtaposed against aunts struggling with loss of themselves as well as love, Bronte sparkles through each home experiencing the wide diverse variety of personalities, values and how each are deeply bonded together in other ways showing readers that we don’t have to be the same to be important to each other.
Bronte has never known her parents, she was raised by her Aunt Isabelle and her Butler so when she hears her parents were killed whilst adventuring she isn’t that bothered, until she discovers her parents’ will was sewn with extremely rare magical thread meaning if she doesn’t carry out their wishes her hometown will crumble into the earth. So she must embark on a journey to deliver seemingly innocuous items to each of her father’s sisters, hoping to meet her maternal grandfather at the final stop. But of course, things are never that simple.
Check out my review for more, there is a sequel which I’m hoping Guppy Books brings to our shores soon!

I like the sound of this. I might try it out on my daughter who’s very miserable because she’s read all the Lemony Snickett books. Thanks!
